According to Security Week, X (formerly Twitter) was hit with a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack that disrupted tens of thousands of X users’ ability to access the platform on March 10, 2025.
According to Reuters, the traffic involved in the attack came from IP addresses in the U.S., Vietnam, Brazil, and Ukraine. The threat group Dark Storm Team, which “claims to be a pro-Palestine hacktivist group which may have links to Russia,” has claimed responsibility. It posted screenshots on Telegram to substantiate its claim. Security Week notes that this has not been verified and threat actors are known to “falsely take credit for major attacks or outages.”
The incident is still under investigation.
